Welcome to the first episode of CEO Dad, a brand new series of podcast interviews about what it’s like to be a father, to raise kids, when you’re also a titan of industry, the head of a large organization — or the head of a country for that matter. How do you carve out time for your kids from the hurly burly of running a complex corporate organism with all its attendant demands? What do you choose to miss, or are forced to miss, from the milestones of your kids’ lives? How do the stresses and strains of being kind of a workplace Dad to employees affect your job as a real Dad in the home — and vice versa?

My name is Paul Jelinek and I’m a Dad. While I’m not a CEO, I do know quite a few driven, competitive, and highly successful men who are! Knowing how fatherhood and work have intertwined in my own life, I wanted to explore how it all works, or doesn’t, for guys who have immense responsibilities on their shoulders. I’ll be in conversation with a range of CEO Dads of all types, all of whom offer fascinating, and often hilarious, insights into their strategies for fatherhood, and what they did and didn’t learn from their own Dads.

And it goes without saying that there are plenty of CEO Moms out there, who have similarly significant demands on their time, but I feel their stories of juggling, and the idea of having it all, have been well covered, and deservedly so, by the media. CEO Dad however is dedicated to exploring the male perspective.
